Emma brings a keen eye and interrogative mind to any project she tackles. I love working with her - her passion for books and irreverent sense of humour render her an utter delight.

Samantha Stewart- Editorial Manager, Puffin Books

Emma has a great eye for detail, ruthlessly hunts out inconsistencies, and is able to make sensitive suggestions for changes where needed. She has the excellent grasp of grammar and punctuation needed for a proofreader or copy-editor, but crucially she is also able to take a more creative approach when required, rewriting lines or even suggesting new jokes, which is the sort of thing you can’t teach on proofreading courses. I am happy to recommend her.

Peter Matthews- Desk Editor, Scholastic UK

I’ve always found Emma to be friendly and reliable with a meticulous eye for detail. She has also proved to be particularly flexible over workloads and deadlines and always willing to try and accommodate any last minute changes.

Kathy Webb- Oxford University Press

Emma has worked for me at Macmillan Children’s Books as a freelance proofreader for eighteen months and I have been more than happy with her work during this time. She has taken on a substantial number of titles, ranging from very young illustrated fiction to much more dense teenage fiction.

What I appreciate most about working with Emma is that she is very personable whether I contact her by phone or by email and she is also always willing to accommodate my often rather tight deadlines. The tasks I send her are returned on time (and sometimes even early) and are completed to a high standard. She has no hesitation about asking questions if anything about a job worries her, yet she is also able to use her own initiative.

Hopefully our relationship will continue long into the future.

Fliss Stevens- Managing Editor, Macmillan Children’s Books
